 I'm not a massive fan of the faux distressed or worn out look but it was important for the purpose of this design. The idea that a lot of the things that George Orwell brought up in 1984 are being ignored (or fading away) is a frightning prospect. The best example of this is the fact that within 200 yards of Orwell's old apartment (where he wrote 1984) there are 32 CCTV cameras recording all activity 24/7 Check this pic.
